RLT Coaching Groups & Terry’s Case Seminar Groups - There are currently two offerings to reach certification:
RLT Coaching: Groups (with RLT coaches)
The RLT coaching groups are for those clinicians who are interested in taking a deeper dive into the RLT model. These ongoing groups consist of a small relational community of 2-5 mental health professionals meeting by phone 2-3 times per month and working towards mastery of Relational Life Therapy. Participants are able to design their own coaching program, including the option of individual coaching as needed. Because the coaching groups are smaller, they allow for more individualized attention, giving the opportunity to address case issues each call. In coaching, participants have the opportunity to practice each phase of the model (data gathering, leverage, reconnecting, skills and family of origin trauma work). Participants learn through education, role plays and working specific edges.
Coaching fees begin at $100 per month. The hours needed to meet certification requirements depend on your pace and learning style and range from 15-22 hours.
An added note from Terry Real: “Either 15-22 sessions of coaching or a year of seminars will satisfy that part of the accreditation requirement. Students may take either. While more expensive, coaching groups offer small, hands-on practice, role-play, and more opportunities to talk about more cases. I highly recommend coaching groups for those wanting to immerse themselves in RLT training. Anyone wishing a total plunge, who wants to take both the coaching and the seminar is free to do so and will receive a twenty percent discount on case seminars.”
For those who are interested in participating in the smaller coaching groups or would like more information regarding coaching, please contact Amy Warren at 941-957-3366 or firstname.lastname@example.org to get placed in a group.
Case-Centered Seminar Groups (with Terry Real):
This seminar meets monthly with Terry Real and 15 fellow mental health professionals for a total of 15 months.
Terry reports, “The case-centered seminar is NOT supervision or its equivalent. It is, just as the name implies, a small seminar in which RLT each therapist in the group will have a chance over the 15 sessions to take forty-five minutes to an hour to use as they like. You may present a case, or a particular question, an edge you are working on professionally, or even, if you choose, live work on a personal issue. Anyone who feels in over their heads with a particular case and in need of ongoing supervision should NOT consider this as serving that purpose and should make additional arrangements. The rest of the session time will be used for short RLT related question/answers, case questions, personal questions, etc.
The cost of the seminar, which lasts 15 months, is $55 per session or $825 for the whole term. Participants must commit to all fifteen sessions and are financially responsible for them all, once they sign up. We want to maintain consistent groups of participants through the full 15 months. Sessions will be recorded and available to be listened to by participants who miss a session live.” For those interested in joining Terry’s Case Seminar Group please contact Lisa Sullivan at email@example.com
This 2-day Advanced Level 2 Training is for the experienced clinician who understands the basic theoretical framework and principals of the Relational Life Model. The objective is for participants to gain full competency in the clinical practice of Relational Life Therapy, and is designed to provide more in-depth coverage of the therapeutic skills needed.
HOURS: 10am to 5pm each day
March 1 & 2, 2019 in San Francisco, CA
October 25 & 26, 2019 in Newton, MA
RLT Level 3 Training
This is an advanced training for RLT clinicians who have completed our Level 1 and Level 2 trainings. In this 2-day course, Terry will guide participants through a combination of lecture, video, presentation, discussion, role plays, large group work, and small group exercises, in order to ground theory in practice.
Participants will learn:
- Ways to increase your skill in working with family of origin issues
- Integrating Attachment Theory into RLT
- To identify and work on your “edges” as an RLT therapist.
HOURS: 10am to 5pm each day
DATES: No Level 3 is scheduled at this time. Dates will be added as soon as we have a confirmed time.
Observation: Couples Experiential™
Local therapists are invited to come and sit in the room’s perimeter for the sole purpose of enhancing your training by witnessing Terry work with couples first hand. You'll see him work with a variety of issues, personalities, and conflict and learn how he brings the RLT model into his work. Observing therapists do not participate nor interfere in any way, simply listen and learn. This is the only workshop where we offer Observation.
